- Check on the elderly, neighbors, family and pets daily.
- Frequently drink water before, during and after outdoor activities.
- Minimize time spent outside and take frequent breaks to cool off.
- Plan laborious outdoor tasks for the cooler parts of the day.
- Move to a cooler environment at the first signs of heat illness which include; headache, dizziness, nausea, muscle twitching/cramps and dry, hot, flushed skin. CALL 911 FOR HEAT RELATED EMERGENCIES.
- Never leave a child or pet in a vehicle unattended.
- Make certain pets have plenty of water and shade.
